THE ENVIRONMENT VALUES, OBJECTIVES, PROGRAMS

Aviation and the operation of an airport impact the environment in a wide variety of ways.

Fraport AG believes it has a responsibility to meet these environmental requirements.

The Executive Board of Fraport AG approved a Group-wide environmental policy in 2008, which obliges all Group companies to adopt a sustainable, considerate and careful approach to natural resources and the environment and continuously improve their environmental performance.
At Frankfurt Airport, we do this via eleven environmental aspects.

Clear strategy and objective

By 2030, Fraport will significantly reduce greenhouse gas emissions across the Group and at its Frankfurt site. The goal is for the Group as a whole to reduce greenhouse gas emissions to 95,000 tons per year by 2030, and to 50,000 tons per year in Frankfurt. For its international sites, Fraport is aligning its targets with the national goals of the respective countries.

Frankfurt Airport is benchmarking itself against the 2050 target set out in the German government’s Climate Action Plan for 2030. By 2045, Fraport’s greenhouse gas emissions at Frankfurt Airport and across the Fraport Group are also set to drop to zero. For CO2 and all other climate-relevant greenhouse gases, the Fraport Group is committed to achieving net-zero status by 2045 at the latest at all fully consolidated locations within Scopes 1 and 2.
