  • Winners of next Open Pitch Day:  To Be Determined

If you're ready to join this community of innovators and have a pioneering idea about how an airport could look in the future, the Open Pitch Day is your gateway. We invite you to apply and potentially kickstart a partnership with Fraport’s Digital Factory. Your innovative solution could be next in line to make a lasting impact - Fraport is looking forward to your application!

Celebrating the fruits of collaboration, the Open Pitch Day started a successful partnership between Fraport and the Swiss innovator, Assaia, who leverage AI to optimize turnarounds. This connection, initiated in 2022 when Assaia showcased their vision at the first Open Pitch Day pilot, has since evolved into a rewarding collaboration. Their application for a 3-month Digital Factory project has concluded in the development of "Turnaround Control@LJU," a project that demonstrates how shared expertise and technology can deliver substantial improvements to airport operations.

Completed in early 2024, this partnership has been a testament to the power of working together, effectively optimizing operational excellence at Ljubljana Airport, a proud member of the Fraport group. Assaia's solution, which adeptly combines computer vision and artificial intelligence, provides real-time, impactful data that enhances the agility and insights of ground handling teams. This synergy not only aligns with Fraport’s commitment to further improve processes and passenger experience but also establishes a benchmark for driving operational excellence through cooperative innovation.

The winner of the second Open Pitch Day, AeroCloud, provides a cutting-edge solution to enhance decision-making processes, primarily in operational departments. AeroCloud's Airport Mangement system, in partnership with Fraport's Aviation Passenger Process department, will upgrade the utilization of passenger data. By re-identifying passengers throughout their airport journey, the system will analyze their paths, identify bottlenecks, and measure the length of stays. This data-driven approach will enable Fraport to optimize passenger flow, particularly at security and border control checkpoints at Frankfurt Airport, by measuring waiting times, occupancy levels, and throughput. Ultimately enhancing operational safety and the overall passenger experience.

This collaboration, resulting from the Open Pitch Day in 2023, exemplifies the transformative potential of such events. It paves the way for future improvements and innovations within Fraport. Solutions like AeroCloud's are the very reason for hosting the Open Pitch Day, as they foster rewarding partnerships that elevate Fraport and advance as in this project data management. Fraport eagerly anticipates the outcomes of this joint project with AeroCloud and their award-winning solution “AeroCloud Optic”.

Highlighting the power of innovation, the third Open Pitch Day has led to a promising alliance between Fraport and the Dutch startup, GRASP Innovations. This partnership was cemented when GRASP presented their vision of enhancing airport security during the Open Pitch Day, resulting in their selection for a Minimum Viable Product (MVP) project with Fraport.

In collaboration with Fraport's Corporate Security, as well as the Infrastructure Management department, GRASP has rolled out an advanced surveillance solution. Their Smart Access Control solution aims to utilize IR-UWB-Radar technology to streamline key security processes at Frankfurt Airport. Initially driven by GRASP's pitch demonstrating their capability to detect individuals in restricted areas, even when hidden, this collaboration has now matured into a practical effort to enhance and automate airport security technology. The goal: Streamlining key security processes at Frankfurt Airport.

The cooperation with GRASP has been exemplary, fostering a mutual exchange of knowledge and expertise that has greatly benefited both parties. GRASP's recognition technology has proven to be remarkably effective, and Fraport is eager to explore the promising opportunities this collaboration will bring in the future. The great teamwork, spirit, and solution-oriented thinking involved in this cooperation have been truly outstanding, making it an absolute pleasure to work together.

After the third Open Pitch Day, the legal and compliance department of Fraport AG is on the verge of an exciting change: With the help of artificial intelligence and our partner Xayn, we are taking a big step towards the future.

Until now, Fraport lacked efficient tools that meet strict data protection requirements for analyzing and checking legal texts. The German tech company Xayn addresses this problem with its innovative “Noxtua Legal Copilot”. Europe's first sovereign legal AI is legally competent because Xayn trains the proprietary language models with legal data that has been selected and labeled by legal experts. In addition, Noxtua meets the high professional and data protection requirements of lawyers. This data protection-compliant solution is being tested as part of the Digital Factory project “Legal AI”. The “Noxtua Legal Copilot” analyzes large amounts of data quickly and efficiently and reliably automates routine tasks. The result: employees are greatly supported in their work.

This promising partnership came about because Xayn impressed the judges with its solution and AI expertise at the third Open Pitch Day and emerged as the winner. We are proud of this cooperation and look forward to the positive changes that the “Noxtua Legal Copilot” will bring to our work processes.
