Olympic Highlights at Frankfurt Airport: Athletic Specials and Culinary Delights for Passengers
To celebrate the Summer Olympics in Paris, Frankfurt Airport is offering passengers a wide range of activities and special experiences. They’re designed to evoke an authentic Olympic atmosphere and get sports fans heading for the French capital in the right mood!
So passengers won’t miss a single exciting moment of the Olympic Games, all of the competitions are shown live in six public viewing areas, three of them behind the security checkpoints. In addition, live tickers displayed on more than 500 billboards managed by Media Frankfurt provide travelers with up-to-the-minute information on the individual competitions.
For those who are in the mood to play themselves, various hands-on games are available. Passengers can test their skill and win small prizes at handball and basketball stations. They include the TIPP-KICK game, which was already wildly popular during the European Football Championship. Table tennis promoters are also roaming the terminals inviting passengers to try their hand at a game of ping pong.
Culinary delights are also provided. Passengers can look forward to stands selling exclusive macarons (also known as French macaroons). These delightful sweets, in versions specially created by master confectioner Felix Vogel, come in different colors and flavors corresponding to the world’s continents, thus ideally reinforcing the Olympic philosophy and evoking the venue in Paris.
“We keep reinventing ourselves in order to delight our customers with creative ideas and make sure they have an amazing trip. This approach was already a huge success during the European Football Championships. And now we’re pleased to help our guests experience the Olympic Games at the airport,” says Karl-Heinz Dietrich, Fraport’s Vice President for Retail & Properties.
Three airlines fly from Frankfurt to eleven destinations in France. This makes the airport not only a gateway to the world, but also an important hub for those travelling to the Olympic Games.
