Germany’s Verdi trade union, representing public-sector workers, has called for a one-day strike at Frankfurt Airport on Monday, March 10. The strike is expected to cause massive disruptions to flight operations. All services essential for maintaining full flight operations will be suspended during the strike period. As a result, originating passengers departing from Frankfurt will not be able to take their flight. Fraport, therefore, asks all originating passengers to refrain from traveling to the airport. The strike will also most likely affect connecting flights. Passengers transferring at FRA are advised to regularly check the status of their flight on their airline’s website. Under contingency agreements, only the most essential airport services will be provided during the strike, such as those needed to avert danger or secure technical facilities.
Fraport is collaborating with all partners at Frankfurt Airport to prepare for the anticipated strike and will inform passengers and the public as early as possible. According to the schedules, approximately 1,170 flights and more than 150,000 passengers are expected at FRA on March 10.
