Frankfurt Airport’s new winter flight schedule takes effect on October 27, 2024. This winter, 79 airlines will be offering passenger flights to 243 destinations in 93 countries around the globe*. With over 3,600 flights a week, a total of around available 675,000 seats– up four percent from last year, which was affected by strikes. Frankfurt Airport therefore continues to be Germany’s leading international aviation hub with the most intercontinental destinations. The winter flight schedule will remain in effect through March 29, 2025.
In the coming winter the number of flights to destinations in Northern Europe will increase. For the first time, Lufthansa (LH) is flying to Rovaniemi (RVN) in Finland, which is known for its Northern Lights and considers itself the official home of Santa Claus. Discover Airlines (4Y) is also launching new flights to Scandinavia, adding services to Kittilä (KTT) in Finland and Alta (ALF) in Norway. All three of these new destinations in Europe’s far north will be served twice a week from FRA starting in late November (Lufthansa) and mid-December (Discover) just in time for the Christmas season.
Discover Airlines is extending its services to Ibiza (IBZ) to include the winter season, making it a year-round destination. The weekly flights take off on Saturdays. In the long-haul category, Condor (DE) and Discover Airlines are expanding their connections to Latin American: Condor will operate two flights a week to Los Cabos (SJD) in Mexico and bolster its existing service to Puna Cana (PUJ) by adding an intermediate stop on the Caribbean Island of Antigua (ANU). And starting on December 12, Discover Airlines will begin serving Tulum (TQO) in Mexico twice a week. As a result, FRA will offer the only direct air connection from Europe to the popular travel destination.
Lufthansa is continuing its services to Raleigh-Durham (RDU) and Minneapolis-St. Paul (MSP), which debuted this summer, during the winter season.
In the Far East, Condor is strengthening its roster of services to Thailand by adding two new destinations. Since late September, four flights are taking off to Phuket (HKT). With five weekly connections, Condor complements the two daily Thai Airways (TG) flights to Bangkok (BKK). The Korean airline T'way Air (TW) is adding four weekly flights to the existing Lufthansa, Asiana Airlines (OZ) and Korean Air (KE) services to Seoul. This brings the total number of weekly connections to the South Korean capital to 19. Etihad Airways (EY) will initially increase its winter timetable to twelve weekly flights from December and will add two daily flights to Abu Dhabi from February 2025.
As of October 27, Vistara (UK) moves from Terminal 2 to Terminal 1.
Starting November 11, caused by the merger of Vistara and Air India (AI), all flights will be operated under Air India flight numbers. Air India will thus offer 14 weekly flights to New Delhi and seven connections to Mumbai.
SAS Scandinavian Airlines (SK), a new member of the SkyTeam alliance since September, will move from Terminal 1 to Terminal 2 at the start of the winter timetable on 27 October.
