Fraport USA Wins Contract for Managing the Retail Concession at Newark Airport’s Terminal B
The Port Authority of New York and New Jersey (PANYNJ) has awarded Fraport USA (a subsidiary of Fraport AG) a five-year contract to manage the retail concessions space of Terminal B at Newark Liberty International Airport (EWR). Fraport USA will provide retail management services (including the food court and common areas) and also manage the loading dock/storage facilities at Terminal B. The EWR contract is the third concession within the last three years to be won by Fraport USA – a leading developer of airport retail concessions programs in North America.
Elated by receiving the Newark contract, Fraport AG’s executive board chairman, Dr. Stefan Schulte said: “Newark will be our sixth location in the United States. Fraport and the Port Authority share the same vision to enhance operations and to deliver vibrant retail offerings that create a quality travel experience for the passengers at Newark Liberty.” Featuring more than 46,000 square feet of concessions space, Newark Liberty’s Terminal B currently houses some 30 specialty retailers, restaurants, and a duty-free store catering to EWR’s growing domestic and international traffic.
Located southwest of Manhattan in the State of New Jersey, Newark Airport is one of the three largest hubs serving greater New York. Last year, Newark Liberty welcomed more than 46 million passengers. Fraport USA is already active at the Port Authority’s Kennedy Airport (JFK), where it manages the retail concession area of JetBlue’s Terminal 5. Furthermore, the Newark contract adds to Fraport USA’s operations at some of America’s busiest airports, including New York-Kennedy (JFK), Baltimore/Washington (BWI), and Nashville (BNA).
