A valid ID document (EU ID card or passport) is required for identification purposes. The identification process will be automated, requiring presentation of the document to the scanner and a biometric comparison by camera. The biometric data will be deleted automatically once the identification process is complete.
Visitor ID cards at the click of a button
New visitor ID card machines at Frankfurt Airport
Business customers will benefit from future process
The project is currently in the final phase of implementation.
The machines will be set up in the last quarter of 2024, starting with locations at airport gates Tor 3 and Tor 112 as well as in the Airport ID Card Service Center in Terminal 1 (SCF Terminal 1).
In the future, green visitor ID cards will mainly be issued digitally by machines. The ID card can be saved on a cell phone at the machine using a QR code. If this option is not possible, a printer will also be available to print out a paper copy of the visitor ID card.
Visitor ID cards for the security area will no longer be distinguished by a separate color. The previous blue (terminal areas) and yellow (terminal and apron areas) visitor ID cards will be getting a new common color. The area that can be accessed will depend on the ID card color of the escort and will be verified at the checkpoint.
Visitor ID cards will continue to be issued without personalized visual references. They will only be personalized temporarily via a digital link, which can be read out via QR codes. This means that visitor ID cards can be re-used. Fraport AG is also making a substantial contribution to sustainability with this measure.
The new visitors portal will introduce license plate detection for visitors as well, similar to the system used in CargoCity South. Visitors will then be able to access Operating Area East (Tor 3) via license plate detection as part of the visitor registration process.
